Timothy Ogieva Ogbebor, PhD, ACIB, MCIB is an economist and a seasoned banker. He is the 2nd National Vice President of the National Association of Microfinance Banks (NAMB). He holds the B.Sc. Economics (2nd Class, Upper Division), M.Sc. Economics, MBA (Finance), and PhD Economics degrees from the University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria. He is a Tony Elumelu Foundation (TEF) Scholar having won the Prize of Best Graduating M.Sc. Economics student at the University of Benin, Nigeria. He also holds the professional certificates of Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB), Microfinance Certified Banker (MCIB), both of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN).

He has equally studied and received the Certificate in Financial Development and Financial Inclusion from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and European Investment Bank, Certificate in Macroeconomic Management in Resource-Rich Countries from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Certificate in Industrial Policy in the 21st Century: The Challenge for Africa from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and SDG Academy, and the Certificate in Inclusive Growth also from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

He has garnered over thirty years combined commercial and microfinance banking experience and has worked in some of the top deposit money banks and microfinance banks in Nigeria where he held management positions. He has vast practical experience in risk management, loan appraisal, administration and control, branch management, product development, and poverty alleviation using the tools of micro and SME lending. His specialty is in the areas of credit appraisal, administration and control.

Dr Ogbebor is also a researcher and a university lecturer. He has written and co-authored many journal articles in local and international journals. His research interest covers development economics, financial economics, macroeconomics, public sector economics and banking. He believes that the roles of finance and financial intermediation are inevitable tools for the economic development of any nation.

He is currently the Managing Director, Okada Microfinance Bank Limited and the immediate past Chairman of the National Association of Microfinance Banks (NAMB) and the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), Edo State Chapters.
